Solid Waste Collection & Recycling

Weekly refuse, weekly recycling, and 4 times a year leaves and brush collection is provided to all single-family, two-family, and condominium ownership multi-family units.  The collection service is outsourced to a private contractor; the current contract being with Johns Disposal Services of Whitewater.  In addition, the City provides a Residential Brush Drop-Off and Recycling Center adjacent to the Public Works Garage at 7979 W. Ryan Road that is manned by Highway Division personnel Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (excluding holidays).  PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE DPW BUILDING EXPANSION, THE RESIDENTIAL BRUSH DROP-OFF/RECYCLING CENTER YARD IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.  This includes the gated area for brush drop-off, recycling drop-off, and used motor oil, antifreeze, and oil filters.  Wood chips will remain available at this time, but may be re-evaluated during the construction process.

Brush & Leaf Pickups

Brush and leaf pick-ups for 2024 will take place May 6, September 9, October 28, and November 11, 2024.  Brush and leaves must be curbside and next to the driveway by 7 a.m. on these designated Mondays.  See complete details and requirements.

Electronic Recycling

Per Act 50, Wisconsin's Electronics Recycling Law signed in October 2009, consumers are no longer allowed to dispose of many household electronic devices in landfills or incinerators.

Waste Management Metro Landfill Regulations

Effective January 1, 2021, Waste Management Metro Landfill will be tracking all loads using a handheld ID scanner.  This system will verify residency, usage, tire allowance, and frequency.
