Tour/Safety Talk Request Form

The Franklin Fire Department welcomes requests for group tours/safety talks for the following:

Firefighter is Your Friend Safety Talk:  A "firefighter is your friend" program is an initiative by fire departments to educate children and communities about fire safety by emphasizing that firefighters are there to help them in case of an emergency. This program portrays firefighters as allies and trusted figures to approach in a crisis. The objectives by the end of this class are to educate those in attendance to understand some main points about the prevention of fire, detection of fire to include basic smoke detector education, the real dangers of fire, who to notify in case of an emergency, as well as turnout gear orientation so that those trapped in a fire do not hide from firefighters who are searching for them.

Tour:  Franklin Fire Station 1, 8901 West Drexel Avenue, is the location for tours. You can experience what it’s like to live in the firehouse. Firefighters will talk about their daily schedule and give a tour of the station. At the end of the tour and pending emergency calls, crews will briefly describe the equipment used on a fire truck and in an ambulance. A question-and-answer period will conclude the tour.

Scouting America Tour:  We offer tours for your troops that cover the same material as the “Tour” option. We can also demonstrate basic first aid and give CPR familiarization training. If needed and there is enough coordination time, we can provide a class so your scouts can earn the appropriate badge.

Girl Scout Tour:  We offer tours for your troops that cover the same material as the “Tour” option. We can also demonstrate basic first aid and give CPR familiarization training. If needed and there is enough coordination time, we can provide a class so your Girl Scout troop can earn the appropriate badge.

Local Business Safety Talk:  During the Local Business Safety Talk you will learn about the history of the Franklin Fire Department and its current staffing. We then will talk about various fire prevention items like the different types of detectors, fire extinguishers, and various other fire prevention topics. This will then conclude with a question and answer period.
