The Franklin Police Department UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) Unit became operational in April 2018. The UAS Unit is comprised of officers and supervisors from all three Patrol shifts.
The primary function of the Franklin Police Department UAS Unit is to assist with major scene documentation such as motor vehicle accident scenes, fire scenes, large area crime scenes, and search and rescue. The UAS Unit also works with the SWAT Team to assist with indoor and outdoor searches. The UAS Pilots take part in bi-monthly trainings to work on enhancing and honing these skills.
